Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. She began her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford Tony Award winner actor has worked with many well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. She continues this award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. Ashford starred for two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. It also included Ben Vereen as well as Hector Elizondo. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
